Sabine Fedder

I am an artist based in Whistler, Canada, specializing in mixed-media painting with a focus on acrylics, watercolours, and modelling paste. I hold an Honours BSc in Biology from the University of Western Ontario and am currently pursuing research in a Biomedical Engineering laboratory within the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering. Alongside co-authoring research papers, I integrate my artistic skills into my academic work by creating detailed anatomical illustrations for published research.

Art has always been a significant part of my life and I have been creating since I could hold a pencil. There is nothing more exciting to me than the promise of a blank canvas. Nature provides endless inspiration; I see the world around me in terms of paint colours, translating the vibrant spectrum of hues in nature into the language of mixed acrylics and watercolours.

While I’ve had the privilege of being the youngest artist to participate in numerous art shows across BC, my passion for painting extends far beyond its potential as a career. Art has served as a therapeutic escape both for myself and for those I teach. I’ve used my work to bring comfort and creative expression to others by leading art classes at the Sibling Support Centre at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital, facilitating sessions for residents in senior homes, and teaching at the BC Brain Wellness Centre for individuals recovering from strokes or living with neurological impairments. I have also partnered with the UBC Downtown Eastside Arts and Crafts Society to host a community workshop, supporting accessible creative engagement for diverse populations.
